Early life and amateur career
Tawana (age 17) and Anhtuan (age 19) welcomed Pham into the world in Las Vegas, Nevada. Two minutes later, Brittany, his twin sister, was born. His father was serving a jail sentence at the time. Pham started his minor league career in 2006 with the Johnson City Cardinals of the Rookie League, batting.231/.340/.324 in 216 plate appearances with one home run. Playing shortstop, he had a.849 fielding percentage with 22 mistakes in 37 games.
