Making his international debut in June 2017, Curran is the son of former Zimbabwe international cricketer Kevin Curran. He is also the brother of Northamptonshire CCC batsman Ben Curran and England and Surrey all-rounder Sam Curran. Tom Curran represented the KwaZulu Natal-Inland team in various age categories before moving to England to join Surrey County Cricket Club in 2013. His standout performances with Surrey led to him catching the eye of the England national selectors, resulting in his selection for the England Performance Programme in 2015. He became eligible to play for England from October 2015.

IPL career

Tom Curran was named as the replacement for Mitchell Starc by Kolkata Knight Riders for the 2018 Indian Premier League.
