2018 में उन्हें भाजपा ने दुबारा लोरमी विधानसभा से चुनाव मैदान में उतारा। पर जनता कांग्रेस के प्रत्याशी धर्मजीत सिंह ने उन्हें चुनाव हरा दिया। धर्मजीत सिंह ने 67742 वोट हासिल किए थे। जबकि तोखन साहू को 42189 वोट मिले थे। तोखन साहू प्रदेश पिछड़ा वर्ग मोर्चा के प्रदेश कार्य समिति सदस्य बने। फिर प्रदेश किसान मोर्चा के प्रदेश कार्य समिति सदस्य बने। 2023 के विधानसभा चुनाव में बेमेतरा जिले की नवागढ़ विधानसभा के प्रभारी रहे थे। 2008 में स्वयं सेवक संघ के प्राथमिक वर्ग प्रशिक्षित हुए। 2021 में प्रथम वर्ष प्रशिक्षित बने। वर्तमान में प्रदेश भाजपा किसान मोर्चा के अध्यक्ष है।

He represents the Bilaspur constituency and stands out as the sole Chhattisgarh representative in the Union ministry. The BJP’s choice to incorporate him highlights the OBC Sahu community’s representation, which is among the largest OBC groups in Chhattisgarh.
During the 2023 voting, the OBC Sahu group strongly backed the BJP. Arun Sao led the party. Vishnudeo Sai became the chief minister, while Sao became the deputy. Although he lost his seat in the 2018 elections to Dharamjit Singh, Sahu’s dedication earned him a spot in the state executive of the BJP’s Backward Classes Morcha group. Later on, he was appointed President of the State Kisan Morcha, focusing on farmers’ concerns and rural development. In an impressive comeback, Sahu won the Bilaspur parliamentary seat by defeating Congress MLA Devendra Yadav with over 1.5 lakh votes.
