Outhwaite is Anna and Colin Frank’s only daughter, and she was born in Ilford, Essex. She has two younger brothers, Kes and Jake. Trinity Catholic High School in Woodford Green is where she received her education. Her mother is of Italian origins. Adelmo Santi and his eldest son Pietro Santi were born in Barga, Italy, and became naturalized British citizens in 1957, first residing in Glasgow, Scotland, and subsequently in Fishburn, England, where they established an ice cream business. Outhwaite was a teenager when she joined the Stagestruck Theatre Company, where she performed in various performances in the mid-’80s. She attended Sylvia Young Theatre School part-time while in school, and when she graduated in 1987, she enrolled in the London Studio Centre to study drama and dance.
