Early life and Education

Bihar’s Patna is the birthplace of Sushant Singh Rajput, who was born to Krishna Kumar Singh and Usha Singh. His father was employed by the Patna-based Bihar State Handloom Corporation as a technical officer before retiring. He went by the nickname Gulshan and was the youngest of five siblings. Mitu Singh, one of his four sisters, played cricket at the state level. He went to Patna’s St. Karen’s High School. After his mother passed away in 2002, Rajput’s family relocated to Delhi, where he finished his intermediate education at Kulachi Hansraj Model School.

Rajput purportedly won the National Olympiad in Physics and was a voracious reader with a keen interest in astronomy. He was accepted to the Delhi College of Engineering, which subsequently changed its name to Delhi Technological University, with the intention of obtaining a mechanical engineering bachelor’s degree. Rajput claims he had no interest in engineering and was unhappy that his family had left him with no other choice. Instead, he was interested in Bollywood since he was a fan of Shah Rukh Khan, but he also wanted to become an astronaut and then an air force pilot.

Rajput engaged in dancing classes taught by Shiamak Davar while he was a student at Delhi College of Engineering. He also started taking acting lessons soon after, taught by theater director Barry John. Rajput then said that he intended to keep doing it indefinitely since he felt that the experience had been freeing. He danced in the backdrop during Dhoom 2’s “Dhoom Again” song and Aishwarya Rai’s performance during the Commonwealth Games’ 2006 closing ceremony. He left his engineering study in 2006, in the middle of his fourth year, to pursue a career in the arts and performance. In addition to working in the theater business, he relocated to Mumbai and took on odd jobs and little roles. Afterwards, Rajput became a member of the Ekjute, Nadira Babbar’s theater troupe.

Personal life

The media has focused a lot of attention on Rajput’s personal connections. In 2011, Rajput openly proposed to Ankita Lokhande, his co-star in Pavitra Rishta, during a nationwide broadcast of the dancing competition show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. The two had both competed in the show. After meeting for the first time on the set of Pavitra Rishta, where they were cast as each other’s husband and wife, the couple started dating. After they moved in together in 2012, there were sporadic media rumors speculating that the couple was getting married soon. Rajput said in an interview that cohabitation and marriage were the same thing and that it was contradictory to regard the later as illegal and the former as holy. While at a gathering,

Rajput, 34, was discovered deceased at his Bandra, Mumbai, residence on June 14, 2020. It was reported that he had bipolar disorder and had displayed symptoms of clinical depression. “Asphyxia due to hanging” was listed as the cause of death in the postmortem report, which also described it as a “clear case of suicide.”Rajput’s death was ruled out to be a murder by authorities and a forensic medical team from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.

Rajput’s family accused Rhea Chakraborty and five other people of aiding and abetting suicide in a first information report that was filed with the Patna police on July 25. Rajput’s father resides in Patna. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) opened a case on July 31 to look into how Chakraborty, her parents, and Rajput laundered money from his bank accounts.

TattooHe had gotten a tattoo inked on his back in the memory of his mother. His sister, Priyanka helped him to get the design of his tattoo finalized. The popular tattoo artist Sameer Patange was the man behind the design of Rajput’s tattoo. Sameer Patange has also tattooed actors such as Sanjay Dutt, Sushmita Sen, Kangana Ranaut, and many others. While talking about the tattoo in an interview, Rajput said, “The tatoo is a symbolic representation of five elements. My mother and I are in the centre, implying it is a bond that not even time can defy. The five elements are widely accepted symbols. However, the idea of using my mother and me as elements was thought of by my sister and me.”
Controversies• In 2015, Ankita Lokhande, the ex-girlfriend of Sushant Singh Rajput publicly slapped him outside Yashraj Studios in Andheri. According to sources, after checking Sushant’s cellphone, the actress shouted a “Thank You” before slapping him.
• He was even rumoured to have been secretly married to Ankita in 2015. Reportedly, they tied the knot in Ujjain after Ankita’s parents insisted on her to get married to Sushant as they were skeptical about her decision to live-in with Sushant.
• In 2017, when Shahid Kapoor was awarded the Best Actor Award at IIFA, Sushant tweeted: “@iifa hahahaha.” His tweet was taken as sarcasm on social media, and he was heavily trolled. • In February 2018, Sushant reportedly abused his fans who had gathered outside his Bandra house; requesting selfies with the actor. Later, his fans hit Sushant’s watchman who had also started abusing them.
• In August 2018, Sushant landed into a controversy after he allegedly behaved flirtatiously with his ‘Kizie Aur Manny’ co-star, Sanjana Sanghi. There were also reports of him sexually harassing the actress on the sets of the film. However, the actor refuted all the rumours and also shared his chat screenshots with Sanjana. Later, Sanjana too took to Twitter and dismissed the ‘baseless and unfounded stories’ that were doing the rounds on the internet. She wrote, “I’d like to clarify that no such incident took place with me. Let’s put an end to these conjectures.”
• In the wake of #MeToo movement and as a mark of protest, Twitter immediately removed Sushant’s verified badge after the reports of his indecent behaviour with Sanjana spread on social media. However, he later clarified that the verification tick had not been there for a long time.
