Early life
After being adopted by their grandparents, Ronald and Nellie Biles, Biles and her sister Adria grew up in the Houston metropolitan region in Spring, Texas. After going on a day-care field trip to Bannon’s Gymnastix when she was six years old, Simone developed an interest in gymnastics. She trained there for 11 years under the guidance of Aimee Boorman, her coach. Before making her breakthrough into the elite ranks of competition in 2011, Biles won a bronze in vault and a gold in floor exercise at the Women’s Junior Olympic National Championships in 2010. Senior career

Biles, who was born in 1997, began gymnastics at the ripe old age of six. She went to a gymnastics center with her daycare on a field trip, and she started copying the other gymnasts. Later, the gym wrote her family to ask her to take up the sport. A marvel in every way, Biles began competing as a level 8 gymnast in 2007 (so, for those of us who don’t understand gymnastics, that’s roughly equivalent to “really, really good”). Simone Biles and Suni Lee, American gymnasts, are set to make history by competing against each other in the individual all-round final at the Paris Olympics. This event marks the first time in Olympic history that two former all-round champions will face off in a final.
