Shikhar Dhawan, born on 5th December 1985, is an Indian cricketer who serves as a left-handed opening batsman. He leads Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League and represents Delhi in first-class cricket. Dhawan emerged as the top run-scorer and received the ‘Golden Bat’ at both the 2013 and 2017 Champions Trophies. Additionally, he topped the run charts for India in the 2015 Cricket World Cup. Dhawan holds the distinction of being the first IPL player to achieve consecutive centuries. His standout performance in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy earned him the ‘Player of the Tournament’ title. Furthermore, he claimed the same accolade in the 2018 Asia Cup, where he was the leading run-scorer for his team.

Dhawan debuted in One Day International (ODI) against Australia in October 2010 in Visakhapatnam. His Test debut was also against Australia in March 2013 in Mohali, during which he achieved the fastest century by a batsman on Test debut, scoring 187 runs off 174 balls. In August 2013, Dhawan scored 248 runs off 150 balls for India A against South Africa A in Pretoria, marking the then-second-highest individual score in a List A match. He became the first Indian and ninth overall to score a century in his 100th ODI game during the 4th ODI against South Africa in Johannesburg. On June 14, 2018, in a match against Afghanistan, Dhawan became the sixth batsman and the first Indian to score a century before lunch on the first day of a Test match.
