Early life
Reardon is from Beckenham in Kent. He attended Langley Park School for Boys.
Career
Reardon is a member of Blackheath and Bromley Athletic Club. He won gold in the Under-17 men’s 800m sprint at the national indoor championships in February 2020. Reardon won gold with the 4x400m relay team at the 2021 European Athletics U20 Championships in Talinn. Reardon competed as a member of the British 4x400m relay team at the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships. At 18, he was the squad’s youngest member. Reardon placed fifth in the 800m race at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships. He was also a member of the British 4x400m relay team, which came fourth in the Mixed 4 × 400 metres relay at the championships.
In February 2023, Reardon raced 46.96 over 400 meters to earn his first. gold medal in the 2023 British Indoor Athletic Championships.He was then named to the Great Britain squad for the European Indoor Championships, which will take place in Istanbul beginning March 2, 2023.He was chosen to represent England at the Loughborough International in May 2023.

Just a bit more than two weeks ago, Sam Reardon observed the Paris 2024 Olympics’ Opening Ceremony from his residence in London. Today, on August 11th, he will participate in the Closing Ceremony alongside the other members of Team GB, adorned with two medals. Despite not making it to the 400m final at the British Olympic Trials due to a hamstring injury, Reardon managed to surpass his personal record by 1.29 seconds at the London Diamond League, albeit too late for selection.
Nevertheless, fate turned in his favor when a member of Britain’s 4x400m team withdrew from the Games due to an injury, leading to Team GB inviting Reardon to take his place. Subsequently, Reardon contributed to securing bronze for his country in both the men’s 4x400m relay and mixed 4x400m relay events.
Reflecting on his accomplishments, he expressed his contentment, stating, “It’s all come at me 200mph but I’ve tried to soak it up: running sub-45 for the first time, then getting to the Olympics, getting a run, winning a medal and then winning another one. I’m forever a double Olympic medallist, I could end my career here and I’d be happy.” During the medal ceremony, he carried a photograph of his late mother Marilyn in his pocket. Recalling his aspirations from watching the London 2012 Olympics, he remarked, “I said I wanted to become an Olympian.
I remember her jumping up and down on Super Saturday cheering on the Brits – she was a very loud support, always the loudest when she came to watch my track meets. She always said it would be just as much her dream to see me on the Olympic stage. It meant the world to have her support, she was my best friend, biggest motivation, and inspiration.”
