Vadra started his own firm despite coming from a family that valued business. He started Artex in 1997, specialising in handicrafts at first, then branching out into other sectors like real estate and hospitality. Maureen Vadra, his mother, is the director of all his projects. In addition to his commercial pursuits, Vadra has a close relationship with the Gandhi family. Through his sister Michelle Vadra, he first got to know Priyanka Gandhi in 1985. He helped her through difficult times after her father, Rajiv Gandhi, was assassinated. Vadra’s friendship with Rahul Gandhi is based on a close bond between them both.
Vadra converted from Christianity to Hinduism on February 18, 1997, the day he married Priyanka Gandhi. Along with establishing him as a Punjabi Khatri, in line with his father’s lineage, this union also blessed them with two children, Raihan Vadra and Miraya Vadra. Notably, Vadra went on a business spree from November 2007 to June 2008, founding a number of businesses, including Real Earth Estates, Blue Breeze Trading, North India IT Parks, Sky Light Realty, and Sky Light Hospitality. These businesses were usually started with paid-up capital of ₹5 lakh to ₹25 lakh. In addition to holdings in the DLF IPL and the well-known real estate conglomerate DLF, Vadra’s business holdings also include Hilton Hotels, most notably Hilton Gardens in New Delhi.

Early life and family
The 18th of April, 1969 saw the birth of Robert Vadra to Rajendra and Maureen. Punjabi immigrants to the Moradabad area of Uttar Pradesh make up his father’s family. From Sialkot in modern-day Pakistan, his paternal family is originally from. With the split, Rajendra’s father relocated to India. Originating from Scotland, his mother Maureen (née McDonagh) is of Anglo Indian descent. Rajendra held a business dealing in diamonds and selling brass and wood handicrafts. He lived in Civil Lines, Moradabad. Only his high school education has been finish by Rajendra Vadra. In 2001, Robert Vadra lost his sister Michelle in an automobile accident, and his brother Richard committed suicide. The body of his father was discovered on April 3, 2009, in the guest home City Inn in.
Politics
Vadra sent out a notice in a print newspaper in January 2002 announcing his separation from his father and brother because they were taking advantage of his connections with the Gandhi family to their financial advantage by offering jobs and other favours. Subsequently, all Congress chief ministers, heads of state units, and top party members were advised to avoid contact with Vadra and his family by Sonia Gandhi, the Congress president at the time.
Vadra went mostly unnoticed until 2012, when he started to attract the attention of opposition parties due to accusations brought against him by India against corruption, the anti-corruption movement. Following multiple occasions in which representatives of the Congress party defended the claims against Vadra by saying he was a soft target, these accusations were even more politicised.
