Rinku Singh Early life
Rinku Singh was raised in a low-income household and is the third of five siblings. Khanchandra Singh, his father, was employed by an LPG distribution firm. Singh was raised in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, next to the Aligarh Stadium in a two-room flat. His father’s employers made this concession.
Singh played for Central Zone at the under-19 level and represented Uttar Pradesh at the under-16, under-19, and under-23 levels. At the age of sixteen, he played his first List A cricket match for Uttar Pradesh in March 2014, top-scoring with 83. On November 5, 2016, he made his Uttar Pradesh first-class debut in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy. With 803 runs in nine games, he led Uttar Pradesh in scoring during the Ranji Trophy group stage in 2018–19. In ten matches, he scored 953 runs to conclude the competition.
International career
Singh made his debut for his country on August 18, 2023, in The Village during the first Twenty20 International (T20I) against Ireland. He quickly reached 38 in the following game before being out of the game by the final ball of the innings. In the opening Twenty20 International match at Vishakhapatnam on November 23, 2023, he hit 22 runs off 14 deliveries against Australia.
Singh was included in the Indian team’s November 2023 roster for their 2023–2024 trip of South Africa. On December 19, 2023, he played his first One Day International (ODI) match against South Africa. In addition to taking Rassie van der Dussen’s wicket, he scored 17 runs. BCCI banned him for three months with effect from 1 June 2019 for playing in the Ramadan T20 Tournament held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates without taking permission from BCCI. He played for Deccan Gladiators and helped them win the tournament by scoring 104 runs off 58 balls in the final against New Medical Centre. BCCI released a statement to announce his ban which said, “Mr. Singh did not seek permission from the BCCI before taking part in the T20 league hence directly violating the BCCI rules and regulations. As per the BCCI norms, a player registered with the Board cannot play in any tournaments abroad without the Board’s permission. Mr. Rinku Singh therefore has been suspended with immediate effect for a period of three months starting June 1, 2019. He has been removed from the current India A squad set to play a multi-day game against Sri Lanka A starting May 31, 2019.”
