Nokia expand collaboration For Next-Gen Connectivity 2024 Update
Maxis showcased a live speed test during the 5G-Advanced trial to exhibit its ability to achieve ultra-fast peak speeds of up to 8Gbps. Referred to as ‘5.5G’, 5G-Advanced offers significant enhancements in speed, connected devices, and latency compared to current 5G networks. The demonstration booths presented interactive applications, such as low-latency live streaming of Kuala Lumpur city center views, live 3D content, and immersive augmented reality experiences. Maxis emphasized that 5.5G’s advanced features can facilitate digitalization, automation, and IoT across various sectors, supporting industries like manufacturing, automotive, and smart transportation. Malaysian Government State On DNB
The Malaysian government had previously stated that Malaysia would shift to a dual 5G network once state-run 5G network Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) achieved 80% coverage in populated areas, a goal that was achieved by the end of last year.
DNB’s network infrastructure is being utilized by all telecommunications companies in Malaysia to provide 5G services. The Malaysian government has verified that the committee in charge of the country’s 5G network development is drafting a Cabinet memorandum to initiate discussions on the potential introduction of a second 5G network.
