He is a middleweight competitor for the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) and has fought fifteen times for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Perry made his UFC debut against Lim Hyun-gyu at UFC 202 in August 2016 after entering the organisation on short notice. Perry proved his strength and resolve in spite of the short notice, stopping Lim several times with strong strikes to earn a TKO victory in the opening frame. Perry started bare-knuckle boxing in addition to his mixed martial arts career. Early Life and Career

Mike Perry embarked on his journey in combat sports at the age of 11 by starting his boxing training. It was only after securing a job as a trainer at a UFC gym in Winter Springs, Florida that he decided to pursue a career in professional MMA. Perry’s amateur debut took place in 2012 at Rise of a Warrior 5 where he faced Avonte Moore and emerged victorious with a second-round submission. Following an amateur record of 8-3, Perry transitioned to the professional level, making his debut at Top Alliance Combat 3 against Hector Tirado, winning via first-round TKO. Prior to joining the UFC in 2016, Perry achieved an undefeated professional record of 7-0 with a 100% finishing rate in the regional circuit.

Perry was born September 15, 1991, in Flint, Michigan. He spent a large portion of his life attending several schools in Michigan and Florida. He stated, “I was bullied a lot in school [in Michigan] because I was one of maybe ten white students in the entire school. At other schools, it was the same. I would fight because I wouldn’t give up.” His path of drug usage, house arrest, probation violations, and jail time was paved with this instability. At eleven years old, Perry began boxing training. After doing time in jail for breaking and entering, he was hired as a trainer at a UFC gym located in Winter Springs, Florida. His career as a fighter began with his employment as a trainer.

Following five years of courtship, Perry wed professional tennis player Danielle Nickerson in 2019. 2020 saw their breakup. Perry got into a fight with someone in Orlando, Florida on New Year’s Eve 2016. Perry told the stranger to stop approaching his fiancée, but the stranger allegedly approached and punched Perry. Perry then allegedly struck the stranger in the left hook, knocking him out cold. Because of his use of racist insults, Perry has drawn criticism. Perry released a video on social media to dispute criticism directed at him for using the term “nigga” and to reveal that a DNA test revealed he is 2% African by descent. Citing his need to provide a better example for his son, Perry apologised in public for using the N-word in the past and swore never to use it again. Perry answered questions from in July 2020.
