Her mother has Polish roots, while her father has German, Scottish, and Irish ancestry. At the age of four, Bell expressed her dislike for her first name, prompting her mother to encourage her to use her middle name, Anne, which she adopted until high school.

Just before entering high school, her parents chose to withdraw her from the public school system. She attended Shrine Catholic High School in Royal Oak, where she was actively involved in the drama and music clubs. Prior to Shrine, she attended Burton Elementary School and Norup Middle School, part of the Berkley School District.
