Karen Huger joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Potomac in 2016, making her debut on January 17, 2016, as one of the six primary housewives. Quickly becoming a fan favorite, she has remained a mainstay on the show throughout its eight seasons, with the ninth season premiering on October 6, 2024. Huger expanded her career by launching her own perfume line, La’ Dame! The fragrance became available in numerous specialty and upscale retailers, including Bloomingdale’s. She later extended the brand by introducing a candle alongside the perfume. In 2021, Huger was appointed as the tourism ambassador for Surry County, Virginia.
Bravo TV announced Karen’s Grande Dame Reunion, the first spin-off from The Real Housewives of Potomac. Huger was born and raised in Spring Grove, Surry County, Virginia, on a large family farm that has been in her family for over 100 years. She was brought up by her father, Benjamin B. Wooden Jr., on the property. Her mother passed away from kidney failure on Thanksgiving morning in 2017, and shortly after, her father died following a prolonged battle with Alzheimer’s disease. In March 2024, Huger was arrested on charges of DUI after a car accident in which she crashed her Maserati into two signs and a median. She opted for a trial and was convicted of DUI in December 2024. Sentencing is scheduled for January 29, 2025.
