Who is Julien Alfred?
Julien Alfred was born in Ciceron, a southern community in Castries. Her father passed away when she was 12 years old. She attended Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School in Saint Lucia from 2013 to 2015 and Saint Catherine High in Jamaica from 2015 to 2018. Alfred then pursued a bachelor’s degree in Youth & Community Studies at the University of Texas in the United States, where she balanced academics with athletics. In 2015, she became the Central American and Caribbean U15 champion. She was named Saint Lucia’s Junior Sportswoman of the Year in both 2015 and 2017. As a junior athlete, she won the Commonwealth Youth Games 100m event in 2017 in Nassau, Bahamas. Additionally, she secured a silver medal in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, finishing behind Nigeria’s Rosemary Chukwuma.
