How many times will Narendra Modi win?

Numerous political analysts anticipate that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will secure a decisive victory in the current Lok Sabha elections and secure a third consecutive term in office. Should these predictions materialize on June 4, BJP leader Narendra Modi will match the unmatched feat of serving as India’s Prime Minister for three consecutive terms, a record currently held by Congress leader Jawaharlal Nehru. During an interview on Friday, PM Modi addressed this topic.

In a recent interview, Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence in winning multiple future Lok Sabha elections, attributing his potential success to the support of India’s population of 1.4 billion. He emphasized that the comparison between himself and Nehru should focus on the progress made by India during their respective tenures. Nehru, the longest-serving prime minister of India, led the country from 1947 to 1964 and secured three consecutive general election victories for the Congress party in 1951-1952, 1957, and 1962.

PM Modi mocked the Congress by suggesting that if they were in power, they would have named Chandrayaan-3’s landing site after the Gandhi family instead of Shiv Shakti. The BJP achieved a massive victory in the 2019 general elections by securing 303 Lok Sabha seats, surpassing any other party since the Congress. The NDA alliance, led by the BJP, surpassed 350 seats. For the 2024 elections, PM Modi and the BJP have aimed for a challenging target of over 400 seats for the alliance. Prashant Kishor, Yogendra Yadav, and Ian Bremmer, three well-known poll experts, have forecasted that the BJP will emerge victorious in the current elections. Nevertheless, none of them are hopeful that the BJP will be able to reach its “400 paar” target.

Narendra Modi Biography

Narendra Damodardas Modi, born on September 17, 1950, is an Indian politician who has been serving as the 14th prime minister of India since May 2014. Prior to this role, Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014 and currently represents Varanasi in the Parliament as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Additionally, he is associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a right-wing Hindu nationalist paramilitary volunteer organization. Modi holds the distinction of being the longest-serving prime minister not affiliated with the Indian National Congress.

Modi was born and brought up in Vadnagar, located in northeastern Gujarat, where he finished his secondary education. He was introduced to the RSS when he was eight years old. There is no solid evidence to support his story of assisting his father in selling tea at the Vadnagar railway station. At the age of 18, he married Jashodaben Modi, whom he left shortly after, only acknowledging her publicly four decades later when it became a legal requirement. In 1971, Modi began working full-time for the RSS in Gujarat. The RSS transferred him to the BJP in 1985, and he held various positions within the party structure until 2001, eventually reaching the position of general secretary.
