International career
Chameera was included on Colombo’s roster for the 2017–18 Super Four Provincial Tournament in March of 2018. He was also included in Colombo’s squad for the 2018 Super Provincial One Day Tournament the following month. Chameera was added to Galle’s team for the 2018 SLC T20 League in August of that year. He was included on Galle’s roster for the 2019 Super Provincial One Day Tournament in March of that year. He was selected by the Colombo Kings in the October 2020 draft for the first-ever Lanka Premier League. The Rajasthan Royals acquired him in the January 2018 IPL auction. He did, however, miss the opening several weeks of the competition due to a back issue. Chameera was added to the Royal Challengers Bangalore roster in August 2021.
International career
On January 29, 2015, Chameera, a right-arm fast bowler, made his Sri Lankan ODI debut against New Zealand. In his opening over, he removed Ross Taylor for his maiden international wicket and also got rid of Grant Elliott, which helped Sri Lanka win the game. Despite being picked for the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, Chameera did not play in the first few matches. In Sri Lanka’s most recent pool A encounter against Scotland, he was included in the squad and claimed three wickets for 51 runs. The match was eventually won by Sri Lanka.
