Growing up in Alloa, Duncan Scott attended Strathallan School on a sports scholarship at the start of his secondary education and continued to exercise every day until he graduated from high school.

Career

At the 2013 Scottish Age Group Championships in Edinburgh, Scott gained notoriety by winning eight gold medals. He competed at the 2013 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival later that year, winning bronze in the 4 × 100 m freestyle, silver in the 400 m medley, and gold in the 200 m medley. Scott achieved gold in the 200-meter individual medley and the 4-by-100-meter freestyle in July 2014 at the European Junior Championships, and he also took home a bronze in the same events. A few weeks later, he participated in Scotland’s 4 × 200 m freestyle relay team and won a silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Then, in Nanjing, he participated in the 2014 Youth Olympics, winning.

He took home three gold in the 100-, 200-, and 4-meter freestyle relays as well as three silver in the 4-meter freestyle, 4-meter mixed freestyle, and 4-meter medley (along with Greenbank, Charlie Attwood, and Walton) at the inaugural 2015 European Games in Baku, which was a junior swimming competition.
