Later, in 1982, Dion took home a prize from the World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo. The following year, she was honored with the first of many Félix awards, which are given to Quebec performers. She was also the first Canadian to receive a gold record in France in 1983. When Dion was asked to compete in the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of Switzerland, she won with her rendition of “Ne partez.”
