Debut
He played his first T20 game for the Colombo Colts Cricket Club on 24 February 2018 during the 2017-18 season of the SLC T20 Tournament. During that game against Sri Lanka Air Force, Avishka Fernando achieved 74 runs from just 33 balls, leading to Colombo Colts Cricket Club’s victory by 40 runs. Avishka Fernando debuted in T20I against South Africa on 19 March 2019 in Cape Town. However, his performance was not strong as he only scored 16 runs from 15 balls, resulting in a tied match. South Africa later won in the Super Over.
