Early life
On December 24, 1956, in Chembur, India, Kapoor was born into a Punjabi Hindu family to Nirmal Kapoor and film producer Surinder Kapoor.He is one of four children, ranked second. Sanjay Kapoor is an actor, while Boney Kapoor, his older brother, is a producer of motion pictures. His brother-in-law is Sandeep Marwah, who founded Noida Film City and owns Marwah Studios. Boney’s spouses were the late, great actress Sridevi and the producer Mona Shourie Kapoor. His nieces are the actresses Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, while his nephews are the actors Arjun Kapoor, Mohit Marwah, and Ranveer Singh. His father’s cousin was Prithviraj Kapoor, from the illustrious Kapoor dynasty. Kapoor received his education at Chembu’s Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School.
Career
In a tiny role, Anil Kapoor made his Hindi cinema debut in Umesh Mehra’s Hamare Tumhare (1979). Following that, he played the lead role in the Telugu film Vamsa Vruksham (1980), which was helmed by the seasoned Bapu. He also starred in Ek Baar Kaho and Hum Paanch, two other Hindi movies, that same year. He had an appearance in the 1981 film Kahan Kahan Se Guzar Gaya by M. S. Sathyu.
