Youth career
During his childhood, Zampa initially bowled at medium pace; however, due to restrictions imposed by Cricket Australia on the number of overs pace bowlers could bowl in under-14 matches, he switched to bowling leg spin, drawing inspiration from Australian Test cricketer Shane Warne. Zampa progressed to Australia’s under-19 team in 2009 and secured a rookie contract with the Blues in 2010 following his contribution to Australia’s victorious 2010 Under-19 Cricket World Cup campaign.
