He began playing football at the age of eight with local children and soon joined the youth academy of Esporte Clube Juventude. Telles made his professional debut for Juventude on January 24, 2011, in a match against São José-PA. He scored his first goal for the club on August 20, in a 1–1 draw at home against Cruzeiro.
Later that year, he was transferred to Grêmio as part of a partnership agreement between the two clubs. Telles made his debut for Grêmio on February 3, 2013, in a match against Internacional.
