Notably, he was part of the Indian squad that shared the title of joint-winners of the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy with Sri Lanka. Laxman is among the select few who have played 100 Test matches without ever participating in a Cricket World Cup. Due to his impressive performances in Test matches, he is often referred to as the “God of 4th Innings.” In 2011, he received the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honor, and he retired from international cricket in 2012.

VVS Laxman Biography Early Life
Laxman was born in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh (now Telangana). His parents, Shantaram and Satyabhama, are both physicians from Vijayawada. He is the great-grandnephew of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India’s second President. Laxman attended Little Flower High School in Hyderabad. Although he initially enrolled in medical school, he ultimately chose to pursue a career in cricket. He married G. R. Shailaja, a Computer Applications graduate from Guntur, on February 16, 2004, and they have two children together.
