After his freshman year, Edman played for the Newport Gulls in the New England Collegiate League, earning All-Star honors and being named the league’s top defensive player. In the summer of 2015, after his sophomore year, he played for the Yarmouth–Dennis Red Sox in the Cape Cod Baseball League, where he batted .304, was named the starting second baseman for the East Division All-Star team, and helped lead the Red Sox to the league championship. During his junior year in 2016, Edman started every game at shortstop for Stanford, batting .286 with 24 RBIs and leading the team in runs (35), hits (61), triples (4), and stolen bases (8) across 54 games.
