Segura was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Rosario “Charo” Lazarte, a Peruvian immigrant, and Thomas Nadeau Segura, a First Vice President at Merrill Lynch. Growing up, Tom was fluent in Spanish and spent his summers in Lima, Peru. He graduated from Saint Edward’s School in Vero Beach, Florida, and later attended Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina. At the age of 19, he experienced a near-fatal overdose on GHB, which led to a brief coma.
