Thomas William Maxwell Latham born April 2, 1992 is a prominent New Zealand international cricketer currently serving as the Test captain of the New Zealand cricket team. He is the son of former cricketer Rod Latham and holds the record for the most Test centuries scored by a New Zealand opening batsman. Latham was part of the New Zealand squad that triumphed in the 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship and also reached the finals of the Cricket World Cup in 2015 and 2019.

Primarily known as a batsman, Latham also takes on the role of wicket-keeper. He made his first-class debut for Canterbury against Central Districts in 2010 during the Plunket Shield. He was selected for the One-Day International series against Zimbabwe in 2012 and made his ODI debut on February 3, 2012. Latham’s Test match debut came against India in February 2014. Latham began his career with Canterbury in the 2010–11 Plunket Shield season, impressively scoring 65 in his first innings. He had previously played youth cricket for Canterbury, captaining the under-19 side, and participating in the Canterbury A team since the 2008–09 season. In 2010, he was part of the Durham County Cricket Club academy in England, where he played for the Durham Second XI and Northumberland’s development team, along with club cricket in the North East Premier League for Gateshead Fell. Latham has showcased his talents across all formats for Canterbury. During the 2013 English summer, he played for South Shields in the North East Premier League and Scotland in the Yorkshire Bank 40 competition, while also making two appearances for Durham’s second XI.
Selected for the touring New Zealand Test squad that summer, he participated in both T20 internationals during the tour. In 2016, Kent signed Latham as an overseas player for the English season. He made his County Championship debut against Glamorgan in May, becoming the first Kent batsman to score half-centuries in both innings of his debut. After playing all three formats for Kent, Latham departed in mid-July to join the New Zealand team in Zimbabwe. In 2017, he signed with Durham as an overseas player for the latter half of the English season. Most recently, in 2023, he joined Surrey, making his debut against Kent at Canterbury.
