Todd Golden Biography 2024

The following season (2020–21), the Dons faced a setback, finishing with an 11–14 record and a 4–9 conference record, placing eighth in the WCC. However, on November 27, 2020, Golden’s team made headlines with a dramatic 61–60 victory over No. 4 ranked Virginia, marking the Cavaliers’ first loss to a non-major opponent since their shocking defeat to UMBC in the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Golden’s most successful season came in 2021–22, when the Dons posted a 24–10 record (10–6 in WCC play) and earned their first NCAA Tournament berth since 1998. Although they lost in an overtime thriller to Murray State, 92–87, in the first round, the 24-win season marked the program’s highest total since the 1981–82 season, when they won 25 games.
