Early and personal life

Tabassum On November 4, 1971, Fatima Hashmi was born into a Muslim family in Hyderabad, to Jamal Ali Hashmi and Rizwana. Her father was an actor in Pakistan who returned to India to live with her mother after playing a few well-received roles in the 1970s. When she was three, he moved out of the family. Tabu made her feature film debut as a child in Hum Naujawan (1985) at the age of 14, playing Dev Anand’s daughter. She also made an uncredited appearance in Bazaar (1982) when she was eleven. In the 1991 Telugu film Coolie No.1, which also starred Venkatesh, she had her debut as an actress. When Tabu and co-stars Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, and Neelam Kothari were filming Hum Saath Saath Hain in the Jodhpur area of Rajasthan in 1998, Tabu was accuse of poaching two blackbucks from the fringes of Kankani village. A lower court brought charges against her and the others based on the IPC and the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. She filed a revision appeal in front of a sessions court, which resulted in her release from prosecution under Section 51 of the Wildlife Act (causing injury to wildlife) and Sections 147 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code (penalty for rioting and unlawful assembly of individuals, respectively). Controversies • Accusing Jackie Shroff of Molestation: In the 1980s, Tabu accused Jackie Shroff of molesting her when she accompanied her elder sister, Farah Naaz, for an outstation shooting of a film.
• Blackbuck Case: On 5 April 2018, Tabu, along with her co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, and Neelam Kothari, was acquitted by a Jodhpur Court in the 1998 blackbuck killing case.
