Shardul Narendra Thakur, born on 16 October 1991, is an Indian international cricketer who represents Mumbai in domestic cricket and plays for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. He is a right-handed batsman and bowls right-arm medium pace. Thakur was part of the Indian squad that won the Asia Cup in both 2018 and 2023. In his early career, Thakur faced criticism for his height, standing at 5 ft 9 in, and for being overweight at 83 kg. Despite these challenges, he secured a spot on the Mumbai domestic team.

He made his first-class debut in November 2012 against Rajasthan during the 2012–13 Ranji Trophy. His initial performances were underwhelming, as he took only four wickets at an average of 82.0 in his first four matches. However, he improved significantly in the 2013–14 Ranji season, capturing 27 wickets at an average of 26.25 over six matches, including one five-wicket haul. In the following season, 2014–15, he excelled even further, taking 48 wickets at an average of 20.81 across ten matches, with five five-wicket hauls. Thakur made his List A debut on 27 February 2014 for Mumbai in the 2013–14 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Notably, in the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy final, he took eight wickets against Saurashtra, leading Mumbai to its 41st Ranji Trophy title.
