Raveena Tandon Early Life
Raveena Tandon was born on 26 October 1972 in Bombay (now Mumbai) to filmmaker Ravi Tandon and Veena Tandon. She is the niece of character actor Mac Mohan and the cousin of Manjari Makijany, his daughter. Raveena also has a brother, Rajiv Tandon, who was married to actress Rakhee Tandon, and she is a cousin of actress Kiran Rathod. Tandon attended Jamnabai Narsee School in Juhu and later Mithibai College in Mumbai. She began her career as a model, and during her internship at Genesis PR, she received her first film offer.
In an interview with Rediff, she remarked: “I never thought I would become an actress. I was an intern at Genesis PR, helping [ad-man] Prahlad Kakkar, when friends and people around me started complimenting my looks. However, it was photographer-director Shantanu Sheorey who gave me my first break. He called and expressed his desire to shoot with me. At that time, many models were transitioning into acting. I initially refused film offers, but Prahlad encouraged me, saying millions were waiting for this opportunity. Eventually, I thought I had nothing to lose, and that’s how Patthar Ke Phool happened.”
