Mominul Haque Early Life
Mominul Haque is a Bangladeshi cricketer and former captain of the national Test team, known for his left-handed batting style. Born on September 29, 1991, in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, he stands 1.61 meters tall. Mominul has been an integral part of the cricketing landscape in Bangladesh since making his debut in the 2009-10 season, primarily representing Chittagong Division. Over the years, he has also played for various teams, joining Comilla Victorians in 2021 and Durdanto Dhaka in 2019. His international career includes notable appearances in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and T20 matches, with his last ODI played against Pakistan on September 26, 2018, and his final T20 International on April 1, 2014, against Australia.
He achieved his first Test century against New Zealand in Chittagong in 2013, reaching the milestone off exactly 100 balls. In the second Test of that series, he became only the second Bangladeshi batsman, after Tamim Iqbal, to score centuries in consecutive Test matches. Mominul continued his success with another century against Sri Lanka in Chittagong later that season. In November 2014, he scored his fourth Test century against Zimbabwe, again in Chittagong. By May 2015, Mominul had played 15 Test matches and became the fifth batsman to score a half-century in at least one innings of 11 consecutive Test matches. After a half-century during the team’s tour of New Zealand in early 2017, Mominul faced a dip in form and was dropped from the squad ahead of Australia’s tour of Bangladesh in August. However, he was recalled just a day later for the first Test. In January 2018, Mominul made history by scoring centuries in both innings of the first Test against Sri Lanka, with scores of 176 and 105 not out. This remarkable achievement marked the first time a Bangladeshi batsman had accomplished this feat in a Test match.
