Mikaela Shiffrin Early Life
Born in Vail, Colorado, Shiffrin is the second child of Eileen (née Condron) and Jeff Shiffrin, both former ski racers from the Northeastern United States. Her mother went on to become a prominent masters racer. Mikaela’s father, an avid skier, raced for Dartmouth College. Shiffrin’s family relocated to New Hampshire when she was eight and later moved to Colorado, where Mikaela continued her education and skiing career.
From an early age, Shiffrin displayed exceptional skill in major competitions. At 14, she won both the slalom and GS events at the Topolino Games in Italy, competing against skiers from 40 countries. At 15, she won her first Nor-Am Cup race and followed it with multiple podium finishes in subsequent Nor-Am races. She also earned a bronze medal in slalom at the FIS Junior World Ski Championships. Since 2021, Shiffrin has been in a relationship with Norwegian World Cup alpine skier Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, and on April 4, 2025, the couple announced their engagement.
