Megyn Marie Kelly born November 18, 1970 is an American media personality and commentator. She currently hosts The Megyn Kelly Show, a live daily talk show and podcast on the Triumph channel of SiriusXM. Kelly was born in Champaign, Illinois, to Edward Francis Kelly, an educator at the State University of New York at Albany, and Linda (née DeMaio), a homemaker. She has one sister, Suzanne (1964–2022), and a brother, Pete. Her heritage is a mix of Italian and German from her mother’s side and Irish from her father’s. Raised in a Catholic family, Kelly experienced the loss of her father, who died of a heart attack when she was 15 years old. She also has a step-sister and step-brother from her mother’s second marriage to Peter Kirwan.
Kelly’s family moved to Delmar, New York, when she was 9, and she attended Bethlehem Central High School. She earned her undergraduate degree in political science from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs in 1992, followed by a J.D. from Albany Law School in 1995. After graduating, Kelly worked as an associate attorney at the Chicago office of the law firm Bickel & Brewer LLP. In 1996, she co-wrote an article for the American Bar Association journal Litigation, titled The Conflicting Roles of Lawyer as Director. Later, she spent nine years at Jones Day, where she worked with clients such as the credit bureau Experian.
