On television, Thieriot played Dylan Massett on A&E’s Bates Motel from 2013 to 2017, portrayed Jack Hays in the History Channel’s miniseries Texas Rising (2015), and starred as Navy SEAL Clay Spenser on CBS’s SEAL Team from 2017 to 2022. Since 2022, he has led the CBS series Fire Country as Bode Leone—a project he also co-created, writes for, and produces.

Max Thieriot was born in Los Altos Hills, California, to parents Bridgit Ann (née Snyder) and George Cameron Thieriot. He has one older sister and one younger brother. Raised in the small town of Occidental in Sonoma County, California, Thieriot attended Sonoma Country Day School in Santa Rosa for his middle school years and later graduated from El Molino High School in Forestville in 2006.
Thieriot’s family has a rich history, as his ancestors once owned the San Francisco Chronicle. His great-great-grandfather, M.H. de Young, of Dutch Jewish descent who later converted to Catholicism, co-founded the newspaper with his brother Charles de Young. Thieriot’s relatives, Charles and Richard Thieriot, went on to become the editors and publishers of the paper. Tragically, Thieriot’s paternal grandparents, Frances Harrison (née Dade) and Ferdinand Melly Thieriot, lost their lives in the sinking of the Italian liner SS Andrea Doria off Nantucket in 1956. Thieriot’s paternal uncle, Peter, who was only 13 at the time, survived the disaster.
