High School Career

Knox attended Tampa Catholic High School in Tampa, Florida. As a junior, he posted impressive stats, averaging 30.1 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. He helped lead the Crusaders to both regional and district championships, finishing as a runner-up in the 2016 Florida Class 4A semifinals. In the summer of 2016, Knox played for his AAU team, E1T1 United, in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) circuit. During this time, he scored a career-high 28 points in a win over All Ohio Red.

Knox averaged 19.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game in the EYBL. In his senior year, Knox continued to shine, averaging 28.5 points and 11.3 rebounds per game, leading Tampa Catholic to a 25-6 record. He played in prestigious events such as the McDonald’s All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Classic.

College Career

In his freshman season, Knox led the Kentucky Wildcats to a 10–8 conference record, finishing fourth in the SEC, while leading the team with an average of 15.9 points per game. He was named to both the All-Rookie and First Team All-SEC teams. The team turned their season around to win the SEC Tournament, with Knox contributing 18 points and 7 rebounds in the final game against Tennessee. During the 2018 NCAA tournament, Kentucky was expected to have an easier route to the Final Four, especially after other high seeds like Virginia, Cincinnati, and Tennessee were eliminated. However, they were defeated by Kansas State, with Knox recording 13 points and 8 rebounds.
On April 6, 2018, Knox declared for the 2018 NBA Draft and hired an agent, forgoing the remaining three years of his college eligibility.

Professional Career

Knox was selected by the New York Knicks with the ninth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. He signed with the Knicks on July 5, 2018. He made his NBA debut on October 17, 2018, coming off the bench to score 10 points, add two steals, and block one shot in a 126–107 win over the Atlanta Hawks. Two days later, he scored a team-high 17 points in a 107–105 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. The next day, he sprained his left ankle in a loss to the Boston Celtics.

After playing in the 2024 NBA Summer League, Knox signed with the Golden State Warriors on September 25, 2024, but was waived on October 19, 2024. He joined the Santa Cruz Warriors on October 28, 2024. After averaging 21.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 28 games for Santa Cruz, Knox was signed to a 10-day contract with the Golden State Warriors on February 19, 2025. He made his debut for the Warriors on February 21, 2025, in a 132–108 win over the Sacramento Kings, scoring 5 points and grabbing 1 rebound.

National Team Career

Knox won two gold medals with USA Basketball at the 2015 FIBA Americas Under-16 Championship and the 2016 FIBA Under-17 World Championship.

Kevin Knox II is the son of former NFL wide receiver Kevin Knox. He has two younger brothers who are also basketball players: Kobe, who plays college basketball at the University of South Florida, and Karter, a former 5-star recruit who plays for the University of Arkansas.
