High School Career

Edwards played basketball at Etiwanda High School in Rancho Cucamonga, California. As a junior, he averaged 17 points and 9 rebounds per game, earning First Team All-Baseline League honors. In his senior year, he posted averages of 21.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, earning Baseline League MVP recognition. Edwards also played for Prodigy Elite on the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) circuit. A consensus three-star recruit, he committed to play college basketball at Pepperdine.

College Career

During his freshman year at Pepperdine, Edwards averaged 10 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, earning a spot on the WCC All-Freshman Team. As a sophomore, he improved his numbers, averaging 13.8 points and a team-leading 7.5 rebounds per game, and was name to the Second Team All-WCC. On January 21, 2021, he recorded a career-high 37 points and 11 rebounds in an 85–68 victory over Pacific. Edwards helped lead Pepperdine to the College Basketball Invitational title, earning MVP honors. As a junior, he averaged 17.2 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, earning First Team All-WCC recognition. On April 23, 2021, he declared for the 2021 NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility and later signed with BDA and WME Sports, opting to forgo his remaining college eligibility.

Professional Career

Edwards was select by the Brooklyn Nets as the 44th pick in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft. He was included in the Nets’ roster for the 2021 NBA Summer League and signed a two-way contract with the team on August 16, 2021. Under this contract, he split time between Brooklyn and the Long Island Nets, the Nets’ NBA G League affiliate. On April 10, 2022, Edwards’ contract was upgraded to a standard NBA deal. On July 6, 2022, he re-signed with the Nets on a report two-year contract.
