McBride is the daughter of LaMont and LuAnn McBride and has one younger brother, Aaron, and two younger sisters, Karlee and Jayden. Her sister Karlee played basketball at Indiana University, while Jayden is set to play for Georgetown.She attended Villa Maria Academy in Erie, Pennsylvania, where she was a three-year starter and four-year letterwinner under head coach Scott Dibble. During her high school career, McBride helped her team achieve a remarkable record of 106–15 (.876), winning two Pennsylvania Class AA state titles (2009, 2010) and finishing as state runners-up in 2007.
In her freshman year (2006–07), she served as the top reserve (“sixth man”) on the Class AA state runner-up team, averaging 6.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.6 steals, and 1.3 assists per game, along with a .740 free throw percentage. She earned the Swin Cash Award as Western Pennsylvania’s Freshman of the Year in 2007.As a sophomore (2007–08), she helped the top-ranked team in Pennsylvania to a 24–5 record, averaging 13.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 3.1 steals while shooting .730 from the foul line.
