He began his basketball journey at Rufus King High School in Milwaukee and later attended La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana. During his junior year, Poole earned first-team All-Wisconsin honors in 2016, and as a senior, he helped lead his team to victory in the 2017 Dick’s National High School Championship.
