Joseph Tyler Mixon born July 24, 1996 is an American professional football running back for the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL). Mixon played college football at the University of Oklahoma, where he earned first-team All-Big 12 honors. He was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Mixon attended the University of Oklahoma and played college football from 2014 to 2016. However, he was suspended for the 2014 season following a misdemeanor assault charge in October of that year.

In 2015, Mixon earned playing time during his redshirt freshman year, appearing in all 12 games and starting three. In his first career game, he made an immediate impact, catching a 76-yard touchdown pass, the longest reception ever by a Sooner freshman running back. He also rushed for 27 yards on five carries in that game against Akron. On October 24, against Texas Tech, Mixon rushed for 154 yards and scored two touchdowns. He followed that performance with another strong outing in the annual rivalry game against Oklahoma State, where he ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns. Oklahoma qualified for the College Football Playoff during the 2015 season, but in the semifinals against Clemson in the Orange Bowl, Mixon was limited to just four rushing yards and 11 receiving yards in the loss. Over the course of the regular season, he rushed for 749 yards on 110 carries, averaging 6.8 yards per carry. He scored seven touchdowns, with a career-long rush of 66 yards. In addition to his rushing contributions, Mixon recorded 25 receptions for 345 yards, averaging 13.8 yards per catch, and scored four receiving touchdowns.

In his junior year, he recorded 1,443 yards and 21 touchdowns on 201 carries. In his senior season, Mixon rushed for 1,704 yards and 23 touchdowns on 226 carries.
