Jason Sudeikis was born in Fairfax, Virginia, on September 18, 1975, to Kathryn Sudeikis (née Wendt), a travel agent and president of the American Society of Travel Agents, and Daniel Joseph Sudeikis, a vice president of business development. Both of his parents are originally from Illinois. Jason grew up with two sisters, Kristin and Lindsay, and has Irish, Lithuanian, German, and Irish ancestry on his father’s and mother’s side. His maternal uncle is actor George Wendt, best known for playing Norm Peterson on the TV show Cheers, and his great-grandfather was photographer Tom Howard.
Sudeikis was born with anosmia, a condition that means he has no sense of smell. He spent much of his childhood in Overland Park, Kansas, which he considers his hometown. Sudeikis graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School in Overland Park and attended Fort Scott Community College on a basketball scholarship before deciding to leave college and pursue a career in comedy and acting.
