Jaehyun was born on February 14, 1997, in the Seocho District of Seoul, South Korea. Originally named Jeong Jae-hyun, he later changed his name to Jeong Yun-o. At the age of five, he moved to Connecticut, USA, where he adopted the English name Jay Jeong. This experience made him fluent in both English and Korean. He mentioned that while in Connecticut, he was the only Asian student in his school. Jaehyun returned to South Korea at age ten, where he initially faced challenges adapting to Korean culture.
