She is a co-founder, main vocalist, and principal songwriter for the band No Doubt, whose songs include “Just a Girl”, “Spiderwebs”, and “Don’t Speak” from their 1995 breakthrough studio album Tragic Kingdom, as well as “Hey Baby” and “It’s My Life” from later albums. During the band’s hiatus, Stefani launched her solo pop career in 2004, releasing her debut studio album Love. Angel. Music. Baby. The album, inspired by 1980s pop music, was both critically and commercially successful. It produced six singles, including “What You Waiting For?” “Rich Girl”, “Hollaback Girl”, and “Cool”. Hollaback Girl” topped the Billboard Hot 100 list and became the first US download to sell a million copies. The Sweet Escape, Stefani’s second studio album, was released in 2006.

Early life and education
Gwen Renée Stefani was born on October 3, 1969, in Fullerton, California,[18] and grew up Catholic in nearby Anaheim. She was named after a stewardess in the 1968 novel Airport, and her middle name, Renée, is a play on the Left Banke’s 1966 song “Walk Away Renée” by the Four Tops. Her father, Dennis Stefani, is an Italian American who worked as a Yamaha marketing executive. Her mother, Patti, is an Irish American who worked as an accountant before becoming a homemaker.
Stefani’s parents were admirers of folk music and introduced her to performers such as Bob Dylan and Emmylou Harris. Stefani has two younger siblings, Jill and Todd, and one elder brother, Eric. Eric was the keyboardist for No Doubt, before quitting the band to pursue. She attended Loara High School and graduated in 1987. After high school, she went to Fullerton College and Cypress College. She then transferred to California State University, Fullerton, but dropped out to focus on her singing career.
