Hewson was born in Dublin, Ireland, as the second daughter of activist Ali Hewson and Bono (Paul David Hewson). Her unique name reflects her birth time—7 a.m. on July 7—since “eve” is at the center of the word “seven.” Her godfather is musician Gavin Friday. She has an older sister, Jordan, and two younger brothers, Elijah and John. Hewson attended Dalkey School Project for primary education and St. Andrew’s College in Booterstown for secondary school. The U2 song “Kite” was inspired by a memorable day when Bono flew a kite with her and her sister, only for it to get blown away and crash. In 2008, she completed a short course at the New York Film Academy, and the following year, she began studying acting with a focus on psychology at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, graduating in 2013.
