Deng started her athletic journey at the Luzhou Amateur Athletic School’s track and field team when she was eight, focusing on javelin. At the age of 12 in 2017, she took up BMX freestyle. Her achievements include a second-place finish at the 2021 Chinese National Games, third place at the 2022 Chinese Championships, a gold medal at the Asian Championships, and a sixth-place finish at the 2023 UCI BMX Freestyle World Championships. She clinched the UCI BMX Freestyle World Cup in Bazhong in October 2023, beating world champion Hannah Roberts. Coached by Daniel Dhers, she secured her spot to represent China at the 2024 Summer Olympics after placing third in Shanghai and fourth in Budapest during the Olympic Qualifier Series. Deng won the gold medal in the women’s BMX freestyle event at the Olympics, surpassing Perris Benegas and Natalya Diehm.
