Cooper Flagg born December 21, 2006 is an American college basketball player currently playing for the Duke Blue Devils in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Hailing from Newport, Maine, Flagg began his high school career at Nokomis Regional High School before transferring to Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida, after his freshman year. In his senior year at Montverde, Flagg earned numerous national player of the year accolades and was recognized as the consensus top recruit in the 2025 class.

After his first year at Montverde, Flagg played for Maine United in the EYBL, where he showcased his all-around skills, averaging 25.4 points, 13 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 6.9 blocks per game at the Peach Jam tournament. Flagg reclassified to the 2025 recruiting class after his sophomore year and quickly became a top prospect. In 2025, Flagg was selected to play in the prestigious McDonald’s All-American Boys Game. On March 27, 2025, he was named the Gatorade National Player of the Year, in addition to being named Mr. Basketball USA and the Naismith Prep Player of the Year. He finished his final high school season with impressive averages of 16.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.7 blocks per game, leading Montverde to an undefeated 34-0 record and their eighth national title.

Flagg was born in Newport, Maine, and initially attended Nokomis Regional High School. During his freshman year, he became the first player to win the Maine Gatorade Player of the Year award, averaging 20.5 points, 10 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 3.7 steals, and 3.7 blocks per game. His performance helped Nokomis win the Class A state championship, where he scored 22 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in the state final against Falmouth High School.
At the end of his freshman year, Flagg transferred to Montverde Academy, where he played for the Florida Eagles in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL). He was named the MVP of the 2023 Hoophall Classic after a standout performance against La Lumiere Academy, scoring 21 points, five steals, five rebounds, and three assists in Montverde’s 85–63 win.
