He also set freshman single-game records with nine receptions for 147 yards and tied the mark with two touchdown receptions in a game against Texas Tech. Lamb was born in Opelousas, Louisiana, and lived in New Orleans until his family evacuated to Houston, Texas, due to the impact of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He attended John and Randolph Foster High School in Richmond, Texas, where he excelled in football. During his junior year, Lamb recorded 57 receptions for 1,082 yards and 11 touchdowns. In his senior year in 2016, Lamb had an exceptional season, catching 98 passes for 2,032 yards (ranking fourth in state history) and 33 touchdowns (tied for second in state history), along with three punt return touchdowns.

Leading his team to a 14–1 record, with their only loss coming in the 5A-D1 state semifinals to Temple High School, Lamb earned numerous accolades, including All-State honors and being named the Houston Touchdown Club’s Offensive Player of the Year and the Houston Chronicle’s All-Greater Houston Football Offensive Player of the Year. Rated as a four-star recruit by 247Sports, Rivals, and ESPN, Lamb received offers from top programs, including the University of Alabama and the University of Texas, ultimately committing to the University of Oklahoma on July 25, 2016.
