Before taking on this role, he held the position of offensive coordinator for several teams, including the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Buffalo Bills. Daboll also worked in various coaching capacities with the New England Patriots, first from 2000 to 2006 and again from 2013 to 2016.

Daboll began his coaching career in 1997 as a restricted earnings coach at the College of William & Mary before transitioning to Michigan State University, where he served as a graduate assistant from 1998 to 1999 under head coach Nick Saban. In 2000, Daboll entered the NFL at just 24 years old, joining the New England Patriots as a defensive coaching assistant under head coach Bill Belichick. When Josh McDaniels was promoted to defensive assistant, Daboll moved into the role of wide receivers coach in 2002. After the 2006 season, Daboll left the Patriots to become the New York Jets’ quarterbacks coach. During his time with the Patriots, the team won three Super Bowl titles.
