Brad Paisley was born in Glen Dale, West Virginia, on October 28, 1972. He is the only child of Douglas Edward “Doug” Paisley, who worked for the West Virginia Department of Transportation, and Sandra Jean “Sandy” Paisley, a teacher. Paisley credits his love for country music to his maternal grandfather, Warren Jarvis, who introduced him to the guitar and taught him how to play when he was eight years old. His first public performance came in third grade when he sang at his church.
Originally, he was supposed to play a song on the guitar, but after the adults heard him sing, they decided to have him perform the whole piece by himself instead of using a choir. From that point on, Paisley found himself performing at every local event, from Christmas parties to Mother’s Day celebrations. In a small town like Glen Dale, he was quickly embraced as an artist.
