As a senior, he rushed for 1,175 yards as a running back and hit 20 home runs in just 25 games for the school’s baseball team.
Jackson was also a standout in track and field, winning the state decathlon championship twice. On both occasions, he secured such a large lead before the final 1500-meter event that he didn’t even need to run it. “Distance is the only thing I hate about track,” he once said. he set Alabama state high school records in the indoor high jump (6 feet 9 inches or 2.06 meters) and the triple jump (48 feet 8 inches or 14.83 meters), showcasing his incredible all-around athleticism.
